Desmond Dekker & The Aces - It Mek (Official Audio)
Official audio for Desmond Dekker & The Aces' 1969 smash 'It Miek' aka 'It Mek' A follow-up to the UK Number One, 'Israelites', 'It Miek' first saw issue as 'A It Mek’, a Dekker-penned original song that had been inspired by the antics of a rowdy younger sister. The original version, produced by legendary Beverley's Records boss, Leslie Kong, was deemed by the BBC to be ‘too raw’ for radio play, so was remixed by noted sound engineer, Graeme Goodall, who also overdubbed horns, giving the track a polished feel. The result was another significant UK hit for Desmond and the Aces, with the single breaching the pop listings in June before peaking at Number 7 on 22 July 1969.
